Pregnant woman strips naked in Lagos

Emotion ran high yesterday, in Onigbongbo area of Lagos when a pregnant woman was said to have stripped naked at the bus-stop.

There was confusion at the bus-stop as people stopped by to catch a glimpse while reigning curses on whoever may have contributed to the depression of the woman who was said to be in her mid thirties.

Eye witness account said residents noticed her strange behaviour in the late hours of Thursday but all entreaties to calm her down proved abortive as she eventually stripped herself naked and shouting on top of her voices in the early hours of yesterday.

She was said to be carrying a six-year-old girl who also joined sympathisers to calm the situation but her mother ignored them and tore her clothes.

One of the sympathisers, Mr Noah Ayoola said as soon as the incident occurred, he dialled the state emergency number 767 to intimate them about the development but there was no response as at 2pm.

Meanwhile, early on Friday, the whereabouts of the six-year-old girl remained unknown as sympathisers were apprehensive that she might have fallen victim of kidnappers.

Residents lampooned government over poor emergency services, urging immediate improvement on response to distress calls.

As at the time of filing this report, sympathisers gathered round the woman but health officials were not at hand.
