14 passengers roasted to death, three escape in Lagos road crash

Three people escaped being roasted to death while 14 others were roasted to death, yesterday, in Lagos, when a passenger fully loaded bus went up in flames on Otedola bridge, near Berger, Lagos Thursday.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 6.30pm, when the fully loaded bus was embarking on a journey inward Ibadan but he allegedly suffered tyre bursts, somersaulted and landed on the passengers’ door trapping the occupants.
On noticing this, the three survivors were said to have jumped out of the bus by breaking the windows but the remaining could not as the bus went up in flames few minutes after landing.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity said the bus was carrying fuel as at the time of the incident.
Also, it could not be ascertained if the bus driver survived it but it was gathered that 14 persons were roasted to death in the accident.
The incident was said to have caused gridlock that lasted for hours in Berger and its environs as the axis was shut from road users between 6.30pm and 8pm.
Director Lagos State Fire Service Razak Fadipe confirmed the incident.
